Pooneh Maghoul, CEISCE member, and Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, is the first researcher and engineer from Canada to receive the Outstanding Young Geotechnical Engineer Award of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). This award is given to an engineer under the age of 36, early in her/his career in geotechnical engineering, in recognition of her/his contributions to geotechnical engineering practice or research in industrial or research projects.
